Significance of the anointing oil In the scriptures God’s miraculous power is often activated through a point of contact. For example, in Exodus 14:16, the Lord’s astounding miracle of parting the red sea was activated by Moses’ staff. God gave a miraculous victory to David over Goliath through a sling and a stone. (1 Samuel 17:50) Jesus healed the blind man using mud as a point of contact. God healed and delivered many through Paul using pieces of clothing that had touched his body. (Acts 19:11-12)
Anointing oil is one of the major points of contact sanctioned by the Holy Scriptures. It was used as a dedication of God’s chosen people to special ministry. (Exodus 30:30-32) Oil was used for healing and casting out demons. (Mark 6:12-13). We know that “laying on of hands” is one of the means of empowerment by which people of God minister to each other for administering the baptism of the Holy Spirit, casting out demons and healing. Anointing oil is also a point of contact, which remains on the person for a long time. It can be used in spiritual warfare applying it on specific objects, places in your home, such as your bed, your windows and your door. You may apply it on specific parts of the body for healing.
How not to use anointing oil? We should never put our trust in the oil itself. We can expect miracles only and only if our faith is based on the Word of God and the knowledge of Jesus Christ our Savior. It is our true faith in God’s grace through His Son Jesus that will supernaturally “activate” the oil as a point of contact. Anointing oil is for continuous use, desirably on a daily basis.
